Packet Boats runs packet.boats, including the Catboat pages. This page explains what personal data the site handles. For questions or requests, write to contact@packet.boats.
What the site collects
The site sets no cookies and has no tracking pixels or embedded third-party content. Fonts and images are served from packet.boats itself. The only form is the release news sign-up on the Catboat page, described below. Release news emails are different: they count opens and clicks, as described below.
Your language choice (English or 中文) is saved in your browser's local storage so the pages remember it. It never leaves your device.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver the pages and protect them from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, your browser type and the pages you request, under its own privacy policy. We see aggregated traffic statistics, and the IP address of any request Cloudflare blocks as an attack. We don't use this data to identify visitors.
Visit statistics
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, a small script from Cloudflare that runs on each page. It records the page you view, the site that linked you here, your browser, operating system and device type, your country (worked out from your IP address) and how quickly the page loaded. It doesn't use cookies or local storage, and Cloudflare says it doesn't fingerprint visitors or track them across sites. We only see totals, never individual visitors.
For visitors in the EU and UK, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used.
Release news
If you sign up for Catboat release news on the Catboat page, we first send one email to confirm your address. We store nothing until you confirm, and the confirmation link stops working after 7 days. Once you confirm, we keep your email address, the language you chose and when you confirmed, and use them only to send Catboat release news.
- The list is stored with Cloudflare, and the emails are sent through Amazon SES (privacy notice).
- Release news emails count opens and clicks. Each one contains a tiny invisible image, and its links pass through Amazon SES on the way to their pages. When your mail app loads the image or you click a link, Amazon SES records which email it was, the time, your IP address and browser details, and passes that to us. We use it only to count how many people open each issue and which links they follow, and we never store the IP address or browser details. To count each email once, we keep a code for each opened email for 30 days after the issue goes out; after that only the totals remain. We don't look up who opened or clicked. Open counts are rough: mail apps that block images record nothing, and some load every image in advance. The confirmation email and the unsubscribe link aren't tracked.
- Amazon SES also tells us whether each email was delivered, bounced or marked as spam, and stops sending to addresses that bounce or complain. If an email to you bounces permanently or you mark it as spam, we delete your address from the list, as if you had unsubscribed.
- Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes your address from the list straight away.
- The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out. It loads only when you start filling in the form, and for that check it sends Cloudflare technical data such as your IP address and browser details, under Cloudflare's own terms.
For visitors in the EU and UK, the legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
If you email us
When you write to contact@packet.boats, we receive your email address and whatever you include. Our email is hosted by Lark (privacy policy).
- If you ask to hear when Catboat is released, we use your address only to send that one notice.
- Otherwise we use your message only to reply to you.
We keep messages only as long as we need them for that, and delete them when you ask. We don't sell or share your address, and writing to us doesn't add you to release news.
For visitors in the EU and UK, the legal basis is your request (consent) for the release notice, and our legitimate interest in answering messages you send us.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your request for the release notice at any time, by writing to contact@packet.boats. The unsubscribe link in every release news email takes you off that list at once. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Where data is processed
Cloudflare, Lark and Amazon Web Services may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States, under their own safeguards.

packet.boats(包括 Catboat 的页面)由 Packet Boats 运营。
字体和图片都由 packet.boats 自己提供。
- Amazon SES
